The practice is led by Elisabeth Kendall, who has a broad range of design and delivery experience, having worked with many top architectural firms on award winning major projects in London and the UK.

The practice has a history stretching back to 1906 through four successive generations of the family working principally in London. Please read our history.

Vernon Architects now concentrates mainly on residential and small commercial/mixed use projects in and around Central London.

We are a friendly team who thrive on what we do. We work with clients to develop briefs which reflect their individual needs and aspirations and exploit the opportunities which each site might presents. We don’t have a house style. Our designs are a sensitive response to the individual briefs and contexts. We have worked with modern and historic buildings and are skilled in sensitively adapting historic buildings to modern uses. We pride ourselves in providing our clients with a very personal service.

Project expertise ranges from refurbishments of individual apartments and substantial apartment blocks to building extensions and new build. Working in central London has provided the practice with high levels of experience and achievement in dealing with local authorities on complex planning, listed building and conservation area approvals.

Services Provided: 

A complete service is offered from initial consultation, briefing, staged client design approvals to on site project delivery and final completion of a project.

However, if a full service is not required, activities can be broken down and provided in specialist areas as follows:

• Briefing and process advice
• Design and feasibility studies in outline or detail for base build and/or interior design
• Sustainable design advice
• Cost studies for viability assessments
• Planning applications in outline or full applications
• Historic building assessments and statements for listed buildings, conservation areas or buildings of special interest
• Pre and post contract project management

Commissioning agreement and Fees  

Client agreement and fees are flexible and range from full service lump sum fee to time charge or a mix of both depending on the workload anticipated. Fees are always clear and agreed up front between the parties.
